Co-Hosts and Guests 2007This is a featured page

With a new co-host and guest sitting in on the show everyday, there have been many to pass through the studios of Get This. Here is a list of Co-Hosts and Guests, organised by date, compiled, in part, by Steve Plunkett. The Co-Hosts and Guests for 2006 can be found here, and related trivia here. Links to the stellar work of this talented*** mob can be found here. In 2007 Get This expanded to a 2 hour show, initially between 11am and 1pm, then from 2pm to 4pm.

*** Yes, 'talent' is a subjective concept, but at least Lehmo plugged the petition!

January 2007

  • Monday, January 29, 2007: No guest co-host
Our first show back. No co-host, but a stonking new segment called 'Let's Go Upskirting with Richard Marsland'.
  • Tuesday, January 30, 2007: John Cooper Clarke
Tony's first-ever impression on stage was of this man, back in 1983.
  • Wednesday, January 31, 2007: Greg Fleet
Yes, Greg really is heading off to rehab. He's our very own Lindsay Lohan, although his breasts are real.

February 2007

March 2007

  • Thursday, March 1, 2007: Josh Lawson
Josh is starring in Channel Nine's upcoming 'Sea Patrol' as the feisty shipboard cook. Insert Steven Seagal 'Under Siege' joke here.
  • Friday, March 2, 2007: Craig Eagle
'Eagle & Evans', the show that 'almost went to air' is still available on DVD. We like the 'mini squash' sketch, unlike the hideous trollop who ran the ABC at the time. Mind you, she thought 'Corridors of Power' was a good idea.
  • Monday, March 5, 2007: Geraldine Hickey
Has yet to approach Mossy to do the theme to her live show 'Trucker's Daughter'.
  • Tuesday, March 6, 2007: Alan Brough & Peter Grace
for Alan's shocking account of a 'racist incident' at one of his gigs.
  • Wednesday, March 7, 2007: "Weird Al" Yankovic
Tony's first-ever interview was with 'Weird Al', back in 1989. Al has finally forgiven him. It was shite, despite one half-decent question about 'Spatula City'...
  • Thursday, March 8, 2007: Gina Yashere (200th Show)
Although of Nigerian origin, Gina denies being responsible for any of those spam e-mails about 'free peerages' from the 'Nigerian royal family'.
  • Friday, March 9, 2007: Brian Nankervis
Has promised to try and heal the rift between John Farnham and Kiri Te Kanawa by getting them to duet on 'RocKwiz'. But what song should 'Farnsey and Te Karnsey' do?
  • Monday, March 12, 2007: Andrea Powell
Has no idea why 'Strain Your Gherkins' wasn't long listed for the Miles Franklin. Unless the selection committee thought Sandra Hall was Ethel Chop. An easy mistake to make!
  • Tuesday, March 13, 2007: Danny Boyle
Who is the most difficult actor the director of 'Trainspotting', '28 Days Later', and 'Sunshine' has worked with?
  • Wednesday, March 14, 2007: Simon Pegg & Nick Frost
The 'Hot Fuzz' stars love doing Jack Bauer impressions.
  • Thursday, March 15, 2007: Ben Lawson
Ben dropped the bombshell that Ed, in order to 'perform better' with the ladies, likes to (CENSORED BY ED KAVALEE). I wonder if that'll make the podcast? (WHAT PODCAST?) It's probably already up there, Ed. (YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS MARTIN!)
  • Friday, March 16, 2007: Tony Wilson
Can sing the 'Neighbours' theme song in Latin. Surely that'd be a goer for 'Australia's Got Talent'? Why not an all-Latin episode, Denyer? Come on, live a little!
  • Monday, March 19, 2007: Adam Zwar
Back in his columnist days, Adam was once described as 'a poor man's Andrew Bolt'. These days, Bolt himself fits that description.
  • Tuesday, March 20, 2007: Cathy Godbold
Plays her own mum, Rosemary Margan, in that movie about Graham Kennedy. It was Margan who Kennedy said 'Faaaaark' to that time. We didn't say it to Cathy. We leave that sort of language to the listeners!
  • Wednesday, March 21, 2007: Ryan Shelton
Loves flying to Vegas for the occasional 'Metre Margarita'.
  • Thursday, March 22, 2007: Sean Hughes
Sean played Spike Milligan in the largely-unreleased movie of 'Puckoon'. 'The movie's rubbish, but I'm very good in it.'
  • Friday, March 23, 2007: Tony Moclair
What's it like working at a radio station? Click here for one of Tony's many defamatory stories
  • Monday, March 26, 2007: Lawrence Leung
Lawrence's new comedy festival show is called 'Lawrence Leung Learns to Breakdance'. That must be why he had one arm in plaster.
  • Tuesday, March 27, 2007: Dave Graney
Click here for details of yet another gem from Dave's record collection.
  • Wednesday, March 28, 2007: George McEncroe
From the Brisbane Cage. Claims the 'panda porn' tape they're using at that Chinese zoo is 'just two blokes in panda suits'. Richard Marsland denies having flown to Beijing during our Christmas break.
  • Thursday, March 29, 2007: Matt Parkinson
Classes his circumcision as 'having some work done', but as yet there are no photos in the NW.
  • Friday, March 30, 2007: Andy Griffiths
It's always fun when the author of 'What Bumosaur is That?' drops by. Click here to visit Andy's 'arsetounding' website.

April 2007

  • Monday, April 2, 2007: Greg Fleet (1st hour) & Tom Gleeson (2nd hour)
Greg was just back from rehab, Tom was just back from Adelaide. (INSERT APPALLING ANTI-ADELAIDE JOKE HERE)
  • Tuesday, April 3, 2007: David O'Doherty
One of our favourite new (to us at any rate) comedians, David's latest album combines comedy and piracy. It's called 'Giggle Me Timbers'. Visit his myspace for more O'Dohertyism .
  • Wednesday, April 4, 2007: Ardal O'Hanlon
Ardal (Father Dougal in 'Father Ted') heard that late BeeGee, Maurice Gibb was buried with a full set of 'Father Ted' DVDs. Let's hope the afterlife is multi-region.
  • Thursday, April 5, 2007: Mark Watson
Recently, while disposing of a dead mouse in a bush outside his house, Mark was mistaken for a nocturnal masturbator. For Get This co-hosts, it's a familiar story.
  • Friday, April 6, 2007: No show (Good Friday public holiday)
  • Monday, April 9, 2007: No show (Easter Monday public holiday)
  • Tuesday, April 10, 2007: Ross Noble
Ross's latest DVD 'Randomist' is outrageously elaborate (4 discs!) and apparently comes with a cheese-stuffed crust. We can't recommend it highly enough. Click here to visit Noble country .
  • Wednesday, April 11, 2007: Justin Hamilton
Hey, Tripod fans (we know you're out there)... Justin lives with Gatesy. Click here for all the dirt on the so-called 'cool one' of the group.
  • Thursday, April 12, 2007: Alan Brough
Reckons his girlfriend could beat Richard Marsland in a fist-fight. He's obviously still smarting about that rock trivia showdown. Mind you, we may stage that fight. Possibly at Ed's much-vaunted 'Crap Night Out'. Stay tuned.
  • Friday, April 13, 2007: Greg Fleet
Told us his daughter wants to be a dwarf. And this is Fleety off the gear!
  • Monday, April 16, 2007: Tim Minchin
Once, for a bet, slipped seven movie titles into a Shakespeare monologue on stage. Easy with 'Days of Thunder', not so easy with 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'.
  • Tuesday, April 17, 2007: Daniel Kitson
'Commercial radio is evil to the core' was one of Daniel's opening gambits. We were talking about Bryan Adams' 'Summer of '69' at the time, so it was hard to disagree.
  • Wednesday, April 18, 2007: Andy Zaltzman
How spoiled are we for good guests during the Melbourne International Comedy Festival? None of us had heard of Andy, but he's bloody brilliant. And he makes a great carbonara. That's in real life, not during his show, 'Andy Zaltzman Detonates 60 Minutes of Unbridled Evening'.
  • Thursday, April 19, 2007: Charlie Pickering
Misses doing radio 'because of all the free CDs'. For the record, we have received a total of two free CDs, ever! This despite all the nice things we say about the music on the show.
  • Friday, April 20, 2007: Josie Long
Likes the sound of our 'UK-themed' pub nights. 'Is that where, for one night, everyone has less fun?'.
  • Monday, April 23, 2007: Lawrence Mooney
A former drug-detection officer, Lawrence says the best way to smuggle a vast amount of heroin into Australia is by (CENSORED ON LEGAL ADVICE).
  • Tuesday, April 24, 2007: Russell Howard
Has his own radio show on the UK, where he and his co-host regularly leave massive pauses to try and trigger the station's 'emergency tape'. We'd never do that at Triple-M, as ours is rumoured to be 'The Ketchup Song'. Keep talking, Ed!
  • Wednesday, April 25, 2007: No show (Anzac Day public holiday)
  • Thursday, April 26, 2007: Stuart MacGill
Has found the hidden porno frame in Disney's 'The Rescuers'. Those ex-cricketers have a lot of spare time on their hands.
  • Friday, April 27, 2007: Cal Wilson (as Ed Kavalee was away) and Tom Gleisner
The last day of 'Capril'. Cal came in modelling her 'Cape of Good Hope', while Tom simply opted for full nudity. As usual.

  • Friday, May 11, 2007: Angus Sampson
Don't miss Gussy's uncanny Ugly Dave Gray in 'The King'. We're pushing for an all-Ugly spin-off.
  • Monday, May 14, 2007: Tony Wilson
All right football fans, who says we never do anything for you? As Tony mentioned, when he was some sort of player for Hawthorn, he signed a total of five autographs. Four were the result of Tony standing next to Dermott Brereton, while one was genuinely earned when he penned a moving ballad, 'The Day The Wobbles Died'. For the first time in print, here are the lyrics . We find them mystifying, but Collingwood fans, get ready to shed a tear.
  • Tuesday, May 15, 2007: Jane Allsop
Jane does a first rate job as Noeline Brown in 'The King'. Angus Sampson says he found her 'quite sexy' in character. Mind you, he was dressed as Ugly Dave Gray at the time, and even offered to give her a 'blank' behind the set. I tell you what Ed, I'm glad no-one ever reads this page!
  • Wednesday, May 16, 2007: Angus Sampson
With Angus's new found 'industry clout', we're calling him 'Greenlight Gussy'. He can get anything done (except secure the release of Tony's supressed masterwork 'BoyTown Confidential').

Perhaps you've never visited the on-line magnificence that is thedavegraneyshow.com. Click here to start the tour
  • Friday, May 18, 2007: Stephen Curry
That was true about Stephen trying out 'prosthetic googly eyes' to play Graham Kennedy. They should have gone the whole hog and used those slinky-style ones on springs!

Claims he's having his scrotum Botoxed. Ed calls it the 'flat bag' look.

  • Thursday, May 24, 2007: Matt Parkinson
The (Melbourne) Cage are currently selling 'nothing' on eBay, but a 'Get This' listener has gone them one better by offering a 'faux nothing'. Although, isn't that technically 'something'?
  • Friday, May 25, 2007: Ryan Shelton
Ryan is the man behind 'Rydeas' on 'Rove', much to the envy of Richard Marsland, who'd been pitching 'Marscoveries'.
  • Monday, May 28, 2007: Josh Szeps
Ed's old comedy partner, and inventor of that theory that luggage weight for plane flights should factor in the weight of the passenger, meaning the skinnier you are, the more you can take on. E.g.: Tony Martin: 5 suitcases, Laurie Oakes: a pencil.
  • Tuesday, May 29, 2007: James Brayshaw
Yes, James did don the Borat 'mankini' for 'The Footy Show'. Click here for graphic evidence .

Santo was the one who drew our attention to 'Rex Hunt's Address to the Nation'.
  • Thursday, May 31, 2007: Andrea Powell
Yes, she's still Ethel Chop and no, 'Strain Your Gherkins' still hasn't been shortlisted for the Miles Franklin. But does Peter Carey's latest high-falutin' read tell you how to make the perfect 'devils on horseback'? No, it does not.

June 2007

  • Friday, June 1, 2007: Peter Rowsthorn
Pete's all-purpose excuse for getting out of anything: 'I've got a bee sting on my face'. Feel free to try it yourself.
  • Monday, June 4, 2007: Scott 'Scod' Edgar
Scod wasn't joking when he said the Tripod website has been given a makeover and now resembles a Dungeons & Dragons guide book 'from 1982 or 83'. Check it out.
  • Tuesday, June 5, 2007: Peter Grace
Claimed that, in all his many years of radio, he's never been influenced by 'payola'. Mind you, he was sporting a satin tour jacket for Bob Seger
    and the Silver Bullet Band.
  • Wednesday, June 6, 2007: Robyn Butler
Has spent so long working on upcoming ABC sitcom 'The Librarians', she can't remember the names of her own children. That's why they're all
    wearing name tags.
  • Thursday, June 7, 2007: Greg Fleet
Had a 'back, crack and sack wax' for his appearance on 'The Catch-Up'. Even though he kept his pants on the whole time.

'Gob' from 'Arrested Development'. Has just made a movie with Lee Majors who, he revealed, refers to 'The Six Million Dollar Man' as 'Six Mill'.

  • Monday, June 25, 2007: Seth Rogen
Who would've thought we'd connect so well with a man whose first screen credit was 'Freaks and Geeks'?
  • Tuesday, June 26, 2007: Greg Fleet
Finally the mystery of how Fleety killed Daphne on 'Neighbours' was cleared up: He drove her off the road. He didn't bash her to death with half a house brick like so many of you recalled. Maybe that was something you saw Greg do in real life.
  • Wednesday, June 27, 2007: Chris Taylor
Revealed that Anna Coren turned up at the Chaser's end-of-series party. With a giant 'Fake!' stamp.

  • Tuesday, July 3, 2007: Pete Smith

  • Wednesday, July 4, 2007: Bob Franklin
Didn't drop the F.word this time. Promised to make up for it by saying it twice next time.
  • Thursday, July 5, 2007: Geraldine Hickey
Since her last visit, she's been sacked from her job at the bowling alley. Send her some love, listeners, by visiting her Myspace site.

Demanded to know why the Australian Doors Show weren't part of Live Earth.
  • Tuesday, July 10, 2007: Jane Allsop

  • Wednesday, July 11, 2007: Rob Sitch
Can perfectly mime all three synthesisers from ELP's 'Fanfare For the Common Man'. Maybe we do need a webcam in our studio.
  • Thursday, July 12, 2007: Craig Eagle
Have a listen to Craig's most recent encounter with telemarketers.
  • Friday, July 13, 2007: Ryan Shelton
'Rydeas' on 'Rove' is our favourite segment on Australian TV at the moment. All of us are now card-carrying Ryantologists. Except for Richard who, as you know, worships Matthew McConaughey.

Coming soon: The Greg Fleet Signature Half House brick.

From Crikey. Christian used to be a media adviser to Amanda Vanstone, but he accepts no responsibility for the outfits.
