Tessfoolery I wish he'd asked for help 1 Dec 18 2008, 12:14 AM EST by Donkeycourtroom

I adored the gentle humour of this scruffy, huge-hearted, intelligent bloke. It was obviously hard for him in the end, but I wish he'd hung in there for just a little while longer - enough to relize how valuable he was to the world. And how valuable he was to those that knew and loved him - not just as an entertainer, but as a human being who radiated warmth, acceptance, and generosity of the heart. I wish he'd hung on long enough to relize he was, like all of us, struggling to live our lives the way we want to. You know, it's our perfections which make us love ourselves, but it's our imperfections that connect us to everyone around us. He made so many of us happy. I wish he had seen himself the same way that we saw him. I wish he had asked for help.

PS - I've been treated for depression for many years, and from now on I'm thinking of hiding a little hand-made 'cape' in my pocket whenever I go to my doctor. After all, Rich was so enthusiastic about 'capril'.
