So what exactly makes up what we all know and love as The People's Nation of Get This? You'll find all the best bits here!

In the following pages you'll find: info on now-classic segments, gags and sketches; guests who have entered the hallowed Get This studio; salutes to individuals who are/were key to the sensibility of the show; key phrases; info on Illegal Download and the podcasts; and attempted explanations on just what Get This is all about (including Dave Wakeling's poem).

Overview:

Frequently discussed topics on Get This include movies, current affairs, in-jokes, popular culture, Martin's and Kavalee's own lives, Marsland's media and writing exploits, amusing news articles from around the world, and gossip from "celebrity insiders, startled observers, onlookers, sources, pals and lunchers" from tabloid magazines.

Martin and the others create various comedy sketches that include the edited recordings of politicians such as former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, musical parodies, advertisements and other sketches. Soundbites also feature regularly, with humorous comments, sounds, or sayings from politicians or the popular media included in various jokes, interviews, and songs.

The program starts off at around 2:03 after the 2pm news and the first hour 2-3pm has no ad breaks until 2:55 when the first 5 minute ad break occurs before the 3pm news and traffic. The second hour has one 5 minute ad break at around 3:30 for the traffic and then the show finishes at 3:55 before the 4pm news and then Wil & Lehmo (of course Adelaide follows the 2-3pm schedule except they air it between 3-4pm and skip the second hour). Get This prefers a small amount of long ad breaks as not to interrupt the show too much while other shows tend to go for shorter ad breaks but more frequently (every 15-20 mins).

At the end of the program, Martin will pick a key phrase from that day's show, which has at times extended to fancy sound effects and news soundbites.

Co-Hosts and Guests: 2006, 2007.

Find out all about the show's special guests and what hijinks they got up to. If you recall a classic Get This moment or a nifty piece of trivia, pop it here. If a name is not familiar to you (making you a 'weekend' listener, perhaps?), click here for links for notable Get This alumni.

Talkback Mountain

Probably the most important part of the show where you, the listener, get to ring in and gab on about the topic of the day...and maybe even indulge in one of Ed's Dovetails.

Running Gags

Rex Hunt, Passiona High, The Stefanovinator, Nickelback and Hinder, Africa by Toto, drunk New Zealanders and polite cops on Police 10-7, Shortbus and Steven Segal...Read all about them here!

Key Phrases

Tony chooses a key phrase each day, so if you know what they are, add them here!

Sponsors

Currently the Nissan Navara, complete with a Marsland approved lotion compartment. If you were a listener sponsor during that period where they had no official one, add your zany contribution here!

Illegal Download

Limited Edition CD not available for purchase featuring some of the best bits from the show. Download it while you still can!

Podcasts

Produced by Matty D, now three times a week, the best bits of the show usually make it onto the podcast. If they don't it's generally for copyright reasons.

In A Nutshell

What the show is, exactly, in a nutshell, explained by Ryan Shelton and Richard Marsland.

An Ode To Get This

Written by dedicated listener Dave Wakeling.

Salute To Alf Camilleri

Get This paid tribute to the best Saddam Hussein impersonator ever.

Booty Bank

Ed would really like someone to get Rich's face into the Booty Bank.

Merchandise

Not strictly Get This items for your mitts (coming soon?), but a bunch of host and co-host related items if you're having withdrawals.
