Was released 1st of October 2009 from Picador Australia (The high class sister to Pan Macmillan) for $29.99 Tony Martin has explained the mystifying title to his new book is a reference to "Occasional Tables". The title is a phrase which he unsuccessfully tried using while working in radio advertising and got him fired from the account. Following on from the dubious, but resounding, success of 'Lolly Scramble', comedian Tony Martin returns with another collection of tales from his life outside show business. You'll be both amused and appalled as Martin establishes his own junior detective agency, discovers his parents are censoring bare breasts from the National Geographic, has his braces repossessed by the government, ruins several plays in an attempt to find a girlfriend, gets caught two-timing his local video shop, mars an awards night with a burst of foul language, attends a racist dinner at an Indian restaurant, allows cameras to enter every bodily orifice, and returns to his hometown to discover that his grandfather is not the man he thought he was.

This is where someone will add a witty comment about the Get This team. Despite our best efforts, we haven't really come up with anything witty on par with the genius that is Ricardo Marslando's Vengabus, Ed's ill-prepared sketches or Tony's all round brilliance.

Instead we have some team member profiles, some links, and maybe a YouTube video. Not necessarily because it has anything to do with the show, but because it makes us look semi-organised. Or, for those 'weekend' listeners, here is where you can get to know the brains behind Get This.

Tony Martin (Host)

Comedian, writer, director, actor, all round smartarse. With these pastimes, Tony Martin still manages to be the brains behind Get This, taping Lateline, watching Girls of the Playboy Mansion and trawling New Weekly so you don't have to.Currently appears on ADbc (SBS), 3RRR in Melbourne and types words for The Scrivener's Fancy(now on Twitter)! He's also authoredLolly Scramble and A Nest of Occassionals.

Ed Kavalee (Co-Host)

Still blurting out faux pas on radio, Ed Kavalee is the engorged man brute of the Get This ensemble. His acting roll includes having a penis transplant in Meat Pie, not chewing a chicken burger in a KFC ad, battling crustaceans in $quid: The Movie, and killing it on stage for Thank God You're Here. Can also be heard with Hughesy and Kate on Nova FM and should return with TV Burp.

Richard Marsland (On the buttons)

Richard Marsland is the button pusher who holds down the Get This fort. Simultaneously managed to write for Rove Live and Newstopia, host the breakfast show on Channel 31 (Melbourne) and scribe for The Sunday Mail (Adelaide). No doubt Rich's still spinning the wheels of steel and pulling out killer one liners in the esteemed company of Rodney Dangerfield, Graham Chapman, Jim Belushi and Benny Hill.

Nikki Hamilton (Producer)

Nikki produces the show, as her esteemed title states. As we mentioned before: "She's also pregnant AND was sideswiped a few weeks back (though these two events don't appear to be connected)". Will the last Get This be the day she gives birth on air while Ed is eating what he thinks is soup?" Well, if you tuned into the final show (if you did not, eternal shame on you...unless the thugs in the scallop industry were involved), Nikki gave birth to little Buster 20 minutes before the team went to air. Congratulations!!!

Matt Dower (Pots and pans)

Matty "The Prisoner" D. A genius with those pots and pans. And he's quite good at putting sketches together too. No one knows who he is. All we know is that he is fed a carrot once a day and doesn't get to see his wife much due to him being chained to the pots and pans desk at the insistence of Ed. There are rumours of tapes floating around from his days as host of the "Hour of Dower" in Gympie...We'll let you know when we have hold of it.

Cecelia Ramsdale (On the phones)

There's no better way to make your afternoon than to hear Cecilia say "Thanks for calling Triple M" before hanging up on your lowly, ill conceived contribution to the day's phone-in topic. It's also nice to receive an email from her enquiring about what t-shirt size you want for your Capril T-Shirt. In short, she's the one that puts up with all of us fans, and does a bit of the pots and pans work editing Get That, which goes to air when nobody is listening or when "technical difficulties" occur. But we know that's not her fault. Cheers anyway!

Katie 'Monty' Dimond (On the phones alumni)

The 104.9 Star FM host formerly known as 'Katie on the phones'. Had the telepathic foresight to leave the Triple M studios well before the sacking...or to escape Ed's constant barrage of innuendo.
Katie is now the co-host, along with frequent Get This co-host Ryan Shelton, of Nova FM's Saturday morning show 'Ryan & Monty', 10am-12noon on the Nova network

Bear (Early days button pusher)

In the early days before Rich there was Bear. He seems to have fallen of the face of the earth. Damn those thugs in the scallop industry. By all reports, he is not an actual bear.

Tony Martin's Right of Reply

Following on from the dubious, but resounding, success of Lolly Scramble, comedian Tony Martin returns with another collection of tales from his life outside show business. Outrageous coincidences, disgraceful errors of judgement, ancient family disputes and misguided attempts to impress women are just part of the story.
You'll be both amused and appalled as Martin establishes his own junior detective agency, discovers that his parents are censoring bare breasts from the National Geographic, has his braces repossessed by the government, ruins several plays in an attempt to find a girlfriend, gets caught two-timing his local video shop, mars an awards night with a burst of foul language, attends a racist dinner at an Indian restaurant, allows cameras to enter his every bodily orifice, and returns to his hometown to discover that his grandfather is not the man he thought he was.

Triple M rocked by ratings slide

MYF Warhurst and Peter Helliar are facing the axe after their Triple M breakfast show scored its worst-ever ratings in the latest Nielsen survey, dropping 1 point to 3.2 per cent. The station's overall audience share slipped 0.6 points to 4.3 per cent — the lowest in its 20-year history. The result prompted former announcer Peter Grace to make a stinging attack on Guy Dobson, executive director of Triple M parent company Austereo. "Triple M's problems go all the way to the top," he said. Until last year, Grace hosted a 1980s music show on Triple M. "I was the only guy who went up in the ratings, so they fired me," he said. "Triple M seems to pay a lot of money to a lot of people to maintain its low ratings."

As recently as 2005, Triple M was Melbourne's top-rating FM station. But after a series of controversial sackings and music format changes, it slid. In 2007, the station axed its popular Get This comedy program, headed by Tony Martin, prompting aggrieved fans to picket the studio. More recently it changed its format from "rock music" to "music that rocks" and included pop artists such as Pink on its playlist.

R.I.P RICHARD
5 September 1976 – 6 December 2008

TRIBUTES have poured in for former Sunday Mail columnist, radio anchor and writer Richard Marsland who died suddenly today.

He was aged just 32.

The entertainer - who started his radio career on SA-FM alongside comedian Greg Fleet and Footy Show host James Brayshaw -
was found dead in his car at Ship Rocks Falls at the foot of the Dandenong Ranges in Victoria.

His death was understood not to be suspicious.

Running Gags

There are numerous running gags and references on the show. Here are just some of them...

Show Intro
Every show, after the news and accompanied by the melodic sounds of The Hives, Tony and Ed introduce the gold that will be explored later in the show. Strangely much of the content either never sees the light of day or is sizzled by Ed for many days and, sometimes, weeks. Examples of this include 'Who's impersonating a German polar bear?' and 'Got a friend, got a hammer?' When eventually convinced to exhibit the gold behind the sizzle by Tony, these stories often struggle to reach the dizzying heights of their sizzle.

1980's Synth-Pop Music
Occasionally, the show would often drift into discussion of 1980's synthesizer pop music. The most prominent artist discussed was Nik Kershaw, with his music being used as the subject of a sketch which involved him travelling around the outback visiting drought-stricken farmers on the back of a flat-bed truck. Others discussed on the show included Howard Jones, who Tony Martin actually saw in concert early in his radio career, and Pete Burns, the former lead singer of Dead Or Alive, who Tony described as having "had his lips done by Beaurepaires", in reference to his extensive plastic surgery.
The genre of music in general was used as the main plotline of the first and only Passiona High sketch, which featured Tony's character competing against Ricky M. in a synthesizer playing competition.

Africa by Toto
Whenever the word "Toto", or any word that might sound like "Toto", is mentioned on the show, or Richard is called one of his nicknames, Toto Neorest, the beginning of Toto's song, Africa, is played. References to the continent of Africa may also be accompanied by the beginning of the song.

Broken Promises
On the 16th of October 2007, the day following the announcement that Get This was to be cancelled and in the spirit of the concurrent Australian Federal Election, Ed made a promise to fulfill the promises that he has broken or left unresolved since the start of the show. The first promise Ed has announced is the completion of the official Get This power ballad called 'Castles of Thunderbox'. To date, it has yet to go up on the Get This website. Neither has the broadcast inside a canvas/hessian sack been announced yet. The various promises included:

Only 2 of Ed's promises were ever fulfilled over the lifetime of the show. These were the hosting of a table tennis tournament and, ironically, the promise of more broken promises, as suggested by a caller on the last show of 2006.

Catchphrases
Several different characters from TV, film and radio have provided catchphrases repeated on the show:

Ed Eating
Ed frequently eats during the talk time of the show. Though not a true running gag, there are always a few laughs to be had when Ed can be heard chewing or unwrapping a sandwich near his microphone. Tony frequently refers to the bain-marie that Ed allegedly eats from during the course of the show, and since the announcement of Nikki's pregnancy there have been references made to eating competitions between Ed and Nikki.

Exclusive Interviews
A frequent mini-segment are the exclusive interviews, which involve Ed "interviewing" somebody famous. Naturally, the interviewees are always people that you would never have on the show ordinarily, for example, Nicole Kidman. In the Kidman interview, Ed praises her for the great success of her career and so forth, and the only reply given is a soundgrab of a loud, loud burp. The "Exclusive Interviews" are introduced and closed with the same piece of "dynamic" theme music and seldom last more than 30 seconds.

Gaelan
No-one who doesn't listen to Get This remembers Gaelan anymore, but he was one of the Big Brother contestants from 2006 who lived near Ed Kavalee. Usually referred to as resembling a horse or an alien, he was also found to be illiterate thanks to some shonky Big Brother interviewing.

Hinder
Nickelback the second. When Nickelback were taken off the playlist, Hinder arrived to take their place. In service, not only to their fans but also humanity in general, the Get This Team introduced the 'Hinder alarm' which was played before the terrible Lips of an Angel was played, allowing their fans to avoid the rubbish that was about to be played.

How Richard lives
After finding out that Tony had recently visited Richard at home, Ed decided it was up to the listeners to describe how they imagine Richard lives. One listener has suggested Richard lives in a one-bedroom apartment, reminiscent of the Gene Hackman's character in Enemy of the State (which is of course a complete rip-off of the Gene Hackman movie The Conversation) with many computers uploading torrents of Dean Geyer's album to the internet.

Ideas For Television
Over the course of the show, many suggestions were made for the improvement of TV programming. These included:

Round Trip - A Biggest Loser-esque reality show which involved skinny people getting fat, then losing the weight they gained.
The re-introduction of Sheffield Shield cricket matches to prime-time
The return of "It's A Knockout!"
The full broadcasting of the only episode of "Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos". This actually happened in 2008.

"I'm Richard..."
Whenever attempting to take at stab at Richard, Ed will always, in a girly voice, commence a usually embarrassing confession, supposedly from Richard, with the words "I'm Richard...", implying that Richard always begins a story by introducing himself.

"It's the Weekend!"
A semi-regular Friday segment during which the Get This team improvised suggestions for weekend activities, specifically those which "the kids" are into. Suggestions included:

Bust a "wide stance" in a cubical
Top up your superannuation
Snort crushed-up Burger Rings
Write away for tickets to be in the audience of the ABC's "Can we help?"
Wear a sweater around your shoulders
Finish constructing that shrine to Dame Judy Dench out of vol-au-vents
Read N-Sync liner notes
Find out what vol-au-vents are
Watch Blankety Blanks on DVD
Re-enamel your tartan thermos
Thatch a thicket to your jacksie
Invent a new way of sitting

Jamie
Another Big Brother alumni, who snared the interest of the guys due to the poetry he composed while in the house. This one became a ringtone:

"These windows, not portals,
Outward upon freedom of thought,
But reflections inward,
Into awkward introversion.
These walls have seen strangers,
Faces so eerily blank and fun,
These faces have seen people
And tears will see them leave..."

Jumper Pants
During one of Gregory 'Medallions' Fleet's many visits to the Get This studios (remarkably, he was actually early on this day), listeners were invited to call in on the subject of 'Free Fun'. Whilst discussing this topic, Medallions discussed how he would sometimes wear a jumper in lieu of traditional pants and his plans to open a shop comprised entirely of jumpers that he would sell as 'jumper pants'. He even created a jingle for the advertising, which Matty D and his magical pots and pans later added backing music to (from Fleetcast, 22/5/2007):

"Turn your smile into a frown,
Turn your wardrobe upside down,
Jumperpants!'

It was only some months later than Fleet acknowledged that to "turn your smile into a frown" actually didn't make any sense.

Karl Stefanovic
It was first noted by Kavalee that of all the contestants from Channel 7's ill fated Dancing on Ice, Stefanovic was the only one not to sustain any injuries - serious or otherwise - leading to the only logical conclusion that he is in fact a robot. Many references have since been made to the robotic nature of Channel 9 Today show host, Karl Stefanovic, implying that he has no emotions, his speech is akin to that of a cyborg and Channel 9 actually employs a filter in order to prevent the robotic sounds of the Stefanovanator from being broadcast. Stefanovic has responded by stating, during a hosting spot on A Current Affair, "...and I can confirm we are human, most of the time." Click above for the full database about our favourite robot.

"Let's startle Bob Franklin!"
A gag with its origins in 2006, the aim of this was to try and startle the famously cool and collected Bob Franklin. The theme to this segment was the following:

Tony: "Let's startle Bob Franklin,
Let's startle Bob Franklin,
Let's startle Bob Franklin,
That's him over there!
Let's startle Bob Franklin,
Let's startle Bob Franklin.."
Bob: "Alright, startle Bob Franklin!"
Tony: "Call 1 triple 3 53!"

Bob was finally startled on October 24, 2007, by Talkback Mountain caller Stuart, who confessed that he had watched every single episode of CrashBurn...and kind of liked it.

Meat Pie
This was a feature film which starred Ed Kavalee. The film was meant to be an Australian take on the American Pie-sex romp genre of films, as such, one scene featured Ed making love to a meat-mincing machine, where he delivered the immortal line, "Feel the steel!" You could imagine what happened next ("OOH ME PLUMS!").
Reference was also made to a trailer... ahem... "trailor" of the film being on YouTube, and how there are also apparently scenes of man on goat intercourse added to the film to pad out the running time to 90 minutes.
The film, now titled "Going Down Under" was released (straight to DVD) in 2009 and can now be seen on YouTube.

Nickelback
During the first 6 months of Get This listeners would almost always hear a song by Nickelback on the playlist during the course of the show. The generic repetitiveness of the music and the 'wittiness' of the lyrics became the subject of much hilarity on Get This. This led to Tony's remake of The Beatles' Paperback Writer as Nickelback Liker, a tribute to Ed's supposed 'fondness' for the band.

Nissan Navara
The major sponsor of the show is the Nissan Navara, a vehicle with "huge pulling power". Constantly referred to in the segments, the fabulous extras now available with the Navara, according to Get This, have included:

A China Hutch
Karl Stefanovic as a navigator
A Butter Churn
Long blonde locks
Clogs
Three (count them!) beverage holders.
The mystery snorkle

Nude News
A semi-regular current affairs segment on Get This devoted to all things nude. The catchy theme tune for the segment pays homage to Kenny Loggins' "classic" "track" "Footloose". The lyrics in full are as follows:

Everybody nude, everybody nude

Everybody nude, everybody nude

Obscure Television and Movie Trivia
Inevitably every conversation on Get This ends up being referred back to some obscure movie that Tony has seen at 4am or Ed watched during his time working at a video store, or to a TV show that hasn't aired in Australia for years, if ever. The Wizard of Speed and Time is a constant favourite in the movie stakes, while Arrested Development, It's Garry Shandling's Show, On the Buses and EastEnders are frequently mentioned TV shows.

Passiona High
Passiona High was a proposed story-based, serialised sketch series dealing with characters at an Australian high school. Listeners could suggest characters as well as famous celebrities, including regular guests on the show, to play these characters. Only 1 episode was ever broadcast and can be found in podcast 158. Patterson Lakes Primary School
The sister station to Get This is PLPSFM, aka Patterson Lakes Primary School FM. When Tony and Ed visited to school last year to help the kids improve their content, Ed became the king of the handball court. When the kids visited Get This to help the team improve their content a comment by one of the kids named Mitchell, "That's a bit gay!", ended up in the computer. Following the announcement that Triple M were not renewing the contract for Get This in 2008 Tony rang Mitchell at PLPSFM to see if they could take him on. He was knocked back but the boys were offered janatorial positions at the school. No "Black Thunder" positions were available because the Principal Mr Doody took care of notebook distributions at PLPS.

People want Dutch!
'PWD' began when a Talkback Mountain caller (Silo) announced he was delivering ducks, because "people want ducks", which was also in reference to Ed's constant sizzling of the "rubber duck invasion" news item. This became a running gag and eventually morphed into "people want Dutch" as an intro to any story from or involving the Netherlands. An earlier story about a Dutch TV show purportedly offering a kidney transplant to a contest winner gave us the other running gag, "Something is rotten in the state of the Netherlands".

Playing soundgrabs during music
One addition to the show that has made it unique has been the soundgrabs the boys play during songs. The comedic timings are great, and not once has it ever been overdone. These soundgrabs have been in relaxed, laid back nature of the program. The two most notable edits are:

Midnight Oil's "King Of The Mountain". The lyrics "Yellow-bellied black snake" are replaced with a grab of Brian Boyd shouting that phrase, and "...red rock" is replaced with a grab of Brian Boyd shouting "BARBECUE!".
Matchbox 20's "How Far We've Come". During the song, every time the words "how" and "come" appear, they are replaced with the drunken New Zealander from Police 10/7 saying "How come?". In the middle of the song, the "Assault!!" soundgrab is also played.

Police 10/7
A classic part of the show where Tony plays segments off the NZ Cops show "Police 10/7", a reality TV show that follows NZ cops around on the daily beat. Most clips are of drunken islanders coming up with classic comments like:

"How come?"
"I was parked here for at least 30 seconds."
"Assault!! Assault!! You touched me officer, sorry."
"You racist, you just racist me."
"He thought I was fiddling with his woman."
"He just uses me for his stupid drugs."

"Political Correctness Gone Mad!"
Naomi Robson became a target of mirth for the Get This crew with her oft-repeated phrase, "political correctness gone mad!" But fortunately for Naomi (and for us after she left Today Tonight), she was not the only journalist/television personality/tabloid editor/celebrity insider to be mocked. "Political Correctness Gone Mad!" is the phrase that encapsulates the Get This approach to all things media and journalism related. Time magazine was given a tabloid makeover; the editor of Woman's Day was suicidal over the absence of Suri photos; Todd and Brant recounted their horrible ordeal of facing the media throng post-Beaconsfield. Even John Laws and his missing golden microphone were not safe from being impersonated by Tony.

Political Sizzle
Stemming from Tony's fervent devotion to current affairs, Get This offers listeners the scoop on what's going on in politics and beyond. The most common format is that of the interview or Parliament sitting, done either with soundbites or Tony's impersonations. Thanks to the intrepid reporting of Get This, we now know that Kim Beazley loves cheese; that there are killer bees in Parliament;John Howard's kinky secrets; and that for Australia to export urameium, the government would need to arrange inspections with the mysterious I.E.A.E. And who else would detail what happens when a sandbag is dropped on the PM's plums?

Prizes
Primarily the domain of Ed Kavalee who, in the show's infancy, lobbied successfully to offer prizes to Get This punters. It soon became clear however that the much-vaunted "sweet prizes" of radio's self-styled "King of Prizes" were anything but. This was predominantly due to prizes in the early days being sourced from two-dollar shops, though Kavalee claimed that they were in fact purchased from, "Variety Gift Emporiums". Examples of these prizes included:

A leather imitation bracelet with "real" fake diamantes
A "real" opal necklace with a "W" on it for "Winner"
A light blue t-shirt, with a man in a gas mask and some words that say "Who Farted?"
An opal-encrusted dolphin

As time passed, the quality of prizes gradually improved and included the "Get This Illegal Download" CD, copies of "The Late Show presents: Bargearse and The Olden Days" DVD and for "Borgust", remote control helicopters, on one of which Kavalee famously electrocuted himself while attempting to fly it in the studio's confines.

As a running gag, other choices of "prize packs" offered on the show were made up of various soundbites, typically from TV news shows. These included:

Cheques for a $53,000 breast enhancement and a $10,000 cheque for repairs to a car
A bear or a giant possum
(A) rented Newport house turned into a cannabis factory. Five rooms, 760 plants with a potential annual street value of more than 340,000 pounds
Lunch with Brian Burke, or dinner and a strip show with Rupert Murdoch's "King of Tabloid"
A chemical cocktail found oozing from drums, dumped illegally on a dirt track
A loaded speargun, a shotgun, a large amount of ammunition, knives and an electronic cattle prod
A lethal array of double-sided daggers, fantasy blades and concealed sabres favoured by some teenage street gangs
A small hologram of cheeses which transforms into the world's most wanted terrorist and a statue of the Virgin Mary wearing a Muslim burka

Rex Hunt
An unfortunate soundbite of Rex Hunt explaining why paying women to meet him in an alleyway ("I'm paying money, she's got no money, I got my rocks off - ah, how good is this!") was a feature of the show during the first year. During the second year, another soundbite of Rex giving his detractors ("the thugs in the scallop industry") a serve featured regularly, along with "this is dizzy stuff folks!". Towards the end of Get This' tenure, more soundbytes were revealed, including "If you haven't got the right product your business will go down. You need good fresh ingredients to BAKE THE BEST CAKE!!"

Rodney Dangerfield
There are constant references to the film Caddyshack and a famous Dangerfield line, "Did somebody step on a duck?!" is often used as a soundbite. The team believe that there is no movie that wouldn't be improved by adding Rodney.

Snato Ghauro
On Santo Cilauro's first appearance on the show, Tony and Santo discussed numerous segments and events from their earlier radio career at Triple M/EON FM. Santo revealed that he often received mail with misspellings of his name, the most notable being "Snato Ghauro". As a result, Cilauro is now constantly referred to as Ghauro on the show. In 2006, whenever the contents of that week's podcast were announced, Ed would lament the lack of Snato in them. One of Martin's gotcha calls failed when the victim recognized his offered alias as "Bob Snato-Ghauro".

Shaft of Hope
Shaft of Hope was a effort to tell the story of the Beaconsfield miners Todd and Brant after their rescue. Being Get This, it wouldn't be your ordinary movie about hope and all that jazz, but about, as Ed put it, reporters "taking a dump in a Winnebago" because they don't do public toilets. While a proposed listener film festival was looking to be another promise Ed was about to break, YouTubers came to the rescue. eloril came up with a trailer that included the Stefanovinator, Snato Ghauro, Greg 'Caftan' Fleet and a cat playing table tennis. nakedfella managed to condense an imagining of Channel 9's future telemovie into a 3 minute animation, complete with gratuitous Eddie McGuire references.

Shortbus
Although this movie is not recommended for dates, Ed frequently mentions it on the show. Due to Richard's hosting history on the Late Date Show with Bessie Bardot many references to Shortbus end up with Richard attempting to not explain what a Turkish Grip is.

Steven Seagal
The king of the straight-to-video movie who is never filmed above the eyebrows or below the mouth. Also has his own band named Thunderbox and retails an energy drink called "Lightning Bolt" that can only be ordered over the internet.

Warwick Capper
During Richard's early career in radio he set up a series of "Gotcha" calls using soundbites from an ad taped with Warwick Capper. Once Tony dug this up the soundbites have become part of the show, including "My long blonde locks", "Alright, that's good stuff" and "I was the biggest thing on the footy field". When Warwick put his hat in the ring to run for Mayor of the Gold Coast, the Get This team decided to support him. However his history of stripping (although not on grass) and making a self-filmed porn video may not work in his favour.

What would Greg Fleet do?
Talkback Mountain callers would throw their toughest life dilemmas at Fleety, who would then dispense his wisdom in his usual Fleety way. Check out the lyrics to the theme:

Wikipedia Vandalism

To the dismay of certain self-proclaimed protectors of Wikipedian integrity, the Get This team unceasingly promoted the deliberate humourous vandalism of Wikipedia pages, including its own. Frustration for "Wikipedians" appeared to be borne out of a righteous indignation that Wikipedia, a website that in no way screens its contributors, should somehow be held up as a legitimate, fully-researched encyclopedia.

One of the most popular pieces of Wikipedia vandalism occurred on the C3PO wiki page when a contributer replaced the photograph of C3PO with a head shot of Karl Stefanovic. While on 18-10-2007, after a much loved Ed Kavalee spur of the moment decision whilst on air, a competition was launched with a DVD player the prize for the first person to C 'n' B Richard Marsland on the Get This Wikipedia page. The competition was won within a matter of minutes by listener Dean who captioned the picture simply as 'Do I win?'

Does not help when the radio show makes light of the vandalism to this wiki and makes jokes about it, so in turn this encourages it even more!...I like funny stuff but people putting in useless comments not even related to the show then it makes it annoying 28 September 2006

Given that the show openly promotes vandalism of Wikipedia and this page in particular, you can only assume the semi-protection is appropriate until the show has finished its run for the year (or the hosts get bored of wikipedia and move on to the next running gag, whichever happens first). 15 October 2006

Is it permissable/possible to lock the article during the show's broadcasting times? The show refers to the "funnybone" comment (which had been changed to other words, most notoriously "spicy hot bonner" (sic) - cheers, Josephus) and its constant changes daily, this may alleviate vandalism issues possibly... 28 August 2006

No doubt this will turn into a long list, so just squeeze all the incarnations you can think of here.

The Get This alter egos:

Alexander Downer - Revealed to have not read the AWB information that came across his desk. Also needs a glass of warm milk before bedtime.
- "There was, um, a piece of paper on my desk, and it said some words about the bad things that, um, the people at the wheat factory were doing...I'm not sure what wheat is, I think it's in, um bread...They must need wheat in, um, overseas countries or something, so they put some, um, money with it, and then, the people, um, buy it or something, I don't know. And there's the one, the Saddam one, I don't like him. He was living in a hole, with no money or wheat, he didn't have anything." (Podcast 6)
Big Brother - Brought in for related gags, such as electrocuting Pete Rowsthorn.

Gary Numan - Famous for 'Cars', 'Down in the Park', 'We are Glass' and, as in the words of Gary "Oh God, what else did we do?"
Gary Sizzle - The Triple M music director. Insisted that the station did not play as much Nickleback as people accused them of.
George W. Bush - Thanked the good folk of Narnia, including the Wardrobe, for their participation in the Iraq invasion.
Grant Spatchcock - A 'gourmet' pizza shop owner. Heard on Get This doing his own advertisement extolling his goods with "oh, you know, fucking fetta cheese."
John Howard - "The most powerful man in Australia", as he told it himself during his phone sex conversation. Also told the Pacific nations where to go over their ungratefulness for global warming and the resulting waterfront views.
- Howard *splashes through water to reach the podium*: "Fijians, Tongans, Samoans, Miscellaneous. Please do not be concerned about all this alarmist talk about rising sea levels." *sound of water * "As I swam to the podium this morning, wearing, as you can see, this traditional Hawaiian shirt and afro wig and mustache, in deference to your most revered, eh - " *ruffles through notes* "Weird Al Yankovic...well, that's what the Prime Minister of the Solomon Islands told me to do." (Podcast 42)

Kerry O'Brien - Even in the Get This universe, he still had to face off against paranoid politicians. Mind you, Kym Gyngell does him better...(sorry, Tony!)

Kevin Rudd - Made a rare impersonated appearance, usually to participate in 'me tooism'.
Kim Beazley - Was adamant that a cheese powered economy would provide clean, delicious energy.
- Reporter: "Just what is the Labor about these days?" Beazley: "Look, you've seen the news. It's about fat blokes, with glasses and beards, standing in a town hall on a cold night, shouting at each other, about things that people don't really care about anymore, blokes in shiny suits. We're basically the Liberal Party with a different coloured gersey on. We're worked very hard to get it to that point. I'm not just going to piss that all that away now."

Peter Costello - An impersonation in progress. Accused the entirety of the Labor front bench of many a thing, but only at the appropriate time.
Paul McCartney - Featured in a special Get This appearance in which he updated When I'm 64 to Now I'm 64 to When I was 64.
Tony Blair - Former PM of the 'United States of Great England', according to Dubya
Tony Soprano - Heard ringing Channel 9 to unravel what the deal is with The Sopranos ever-changing time slot. "People fucking disappear ok?"
The Worm - That controversial worm from Channel 9's coverage of the debate between John Howard ("Oh my God! Is that the earth's centre!?") and Kevin Rudd ("This is like up-skirting! Holy shit!")
David Bowie- Podcast 92 song.

Arnold Schwarzenegger - Appeared in The Late Show to promote his 'fantastic', 'amazing' new movie. Also shot someone in the audience. As you do. The biggest Tony's ever looked.
Bargearse - The legendary Bargearse, created by dubbing over old Bluey episodes, who fantasised about donuts.
Governor Frontbottom - from the Late Show created The Olden Days. Consisted of dubbed over scenes from the ABC TV series Rush about life in the mud fields.
John Laws - Lent his vocal talents for a Mick Molloy Show skit that stemmed from chauffeurs getting their arses burnt. Seriously.

He's the resident panel operator and white-anter of the Get This team. Let's see what our dirt unit has dug up on the man who goes by many names, one of them being Richard 'F****ing' Marsland.

The Get This Biography:

"Thanks for clicking to find out more about the fifthest-wheel of Get This, Richard Marsland! Sure, Marsland seems to be a deft hand at hand braking the rhythm of Talkback Mountain with his interminable, but erotically charged, stories of teenage life on the dusty plains of South Australia's mid-north, but what of the man behind the fireball? What of, indeed?

First performing on stage in 1995 at the Espy's legendary Sunday afternoon stand-up comedy thing, Marsland instinctively knew this was the life for him. In his second performance he and the audience came to an agreement that his first instinct was frigging wrong.
Nevertheless, Marsland stuck at it, forging quite the cult following with his pre-recorded automated mid-dawn shifts on Adelaide radio. Sure, he couldn't tell you the exact time, but damn it all, he had a good crack at guessing the current temp.

He stuck at the stand-up, and some 10 years later has a fairly decent four minutes of tight material. He tells us he has at least enough for a flyer for next year's festival. Jumping from radio crag to crag, from The Shebang to Tough Love to The Late Date Show, Marsland hasn't been content with tainting just one medium with his special brand of poisoned chalice. His now-defunct weekly column in Adelaide's Sunday Mail failed in his attempt to stick it to The Man and sidekickin' it to Anne Wills on a Channel 7 South Australian morning shill-fest (the bafflingly-titled AM Adelaide) only resulted in the notorious 'Kegels for Comments' scandal.
As well as writing every single word that is spoken on Rove McManus's show Rove (with Rove McManus), Marsland has also managed to sneak his bonce into the frame now and again. Perhaps you've seen him buttress up a sketch or two, but probably not that much lately, even though he'd love to do more. He doesn't know why. He just wanted to put that out there is all. The thing is you've got to be asked. Just saying.

And like that creepy kid in those Animalia books, Marsland has delighted in appearing in cameo mode in the odd TV show or movie, such as BoyTown, or. . .no, that's about it.

Although courageous in the face of certain tragedy, Marsland sadly died on board his research vessel, the HMS Cosgrove, amidst squally conditions in March of 1984."
