Sydney Anniversary Protest/Rally/Celebration

I thought the other thread was starting to get too long, and I'm thinking it's getting to the stage where we need to break off into Melbourne and Sydney (and anywhere else) to organise our get-togethers.I don't actually live in Sydney, but will be there for the rally in november. I'd love to help organise it, but really don't know the city well at all. Anyone else here planning on coming to a Sydney rally? Any ideas about where and when it should be? Do you find this valuable?

I WILL BE THERE RAIN HAIL OR SHINE.Except 12-3pm on the 23rd. The scallop industry's kidnapping me. Last year we spent the afternoon downstairs in the Star Bar. It was a bit short on seats and the reception wasn't great -- but we don't need that this time! It is close to the home of the Ms... Nova is in Pyrmont which isn't TOO far to walk... Do you find this valuable? |

i'm definately going...but i;ve let myself go sitting on my arse rolling a fat cigarette and gots a marsland overhang in my Capril T-shirt....wat to do....a spray on kavalee perhaps?

Here's a plan, We'll get together on the Sunday, we'll find a pub that's central to everyone, and we'll go there and reminisce. And drink. And quote and wear capes like the gigantic nerds we are. How's that?

that sounds great. so where and when? how bout 3pm or something like that (dunno really) and at the star bar? i didn't go last year, so i dunno what it is like. would we need to book or anything, or just rock up and start wearing capes and eating dixie ice creams?and should we have something friday as well - a more of a protest theme to it? i'm kinda keen for this - maybe it will have no point, but it's a bit of fun and will probably confuse MMM a bit... i'm thinkin we rock up there for a bit, and then maybe onto nova (just for steamroller lol). we need to get some more people coming to this. i'm going to write some letters to the editor and see what happens (some serious, some baffling). do any of the get this co-hosts/guests live in sydney? Do you find this valuable? |

I don't know about the star bar, I mean if everyone's happy with it I'll go, but it's a hike! As long as they have beer and a nerd-friendly environment, I'm there!

The Star Bar's where we went last year, so it has ~tradition~. I wasn't involved in the organisation so I don't know if we 'booked' the downstairs bit or what.How about we do a suburb poll? If we're all westerly (or something), perhaps we could make it Parramatta or something? I don't really care, I'll be in the city on the 23rd. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

did anyone here go to or help organise last year's rally? if so, did the star bar get booked, or did you just rock up?i dont mind where in sydney, but i would like to have it near the studios or something so at least they can see that there is a protest. i dunno. is anyone else keen to do something on the friday? i think the people in melbourne are having something in the morning on friday (for rich im guessing). i was sort of thinking maybe having something on the friday arvo, because wil and lehmo are on (yes, i know a lot of people dont like them) because wil is a really big fan of the show, so maybe it might be a chance to get some media and some support and stuff. thoughts? Do you find this valuable? |

Well I love the idea of MMM being reminded about how they suck now we've all boycotted them, but I work on Fridays. I don't care where it is I'll be there. Maybe it should be drummed up on Facebook again so we know who's interested.

on sunday, i reakon we keep with the timing of the melbourne one and go with 1pm. hopefully it will go for a while....i reakon sunrise is the way to go - even a few shows earlier that week would be awesome. and im up for a bit of action outside the MMMs on the friday - what time do we think? (im not arriving in sydney til 2pm). its also kinda funny, cuz im pretty sure the 21st is wil and lehmo's last day... i wonder if there will be a protest for them (they have been on longer than get this was lol). hahahaha Do you find this valuable? |

Ok.Friday 21st 2pm-5pm outside the Triple M studios. Dress up, bring signs Sunday 23rd 1pm Star Bar Same again Going to be crap prizes (including a Steven Segal video I got for a dollar ... how's that for sizzle?) and stuff. If anyone can get onto Sunrise, I will love you forever (I won't be there on a weekday morning). Nice big sign in the background just for a bit would make me so happy!
